Colonel Ituen Etim Ituen was born on 9 February 1964 and hails from Etip Ediene, Ikono LGA of Akwa Ibom State. He had his primary education at Ladi Lak Institute, Yaba, Lagos before proceeding to Hope Waddel Training Institution, Calabar for his secondary education. Thereafter, he attended the Polytechnic, Calabar from 1981 to 1983 where he obtained his National Diploma in Accountancy. He was admitted into the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna on 5 March 1986 as a member of 27 Short Service Combatant Course. On successful completion of the course, he was commissioned Second Lieutenant on 20 December 1986. Col Ituen attended several military and civil courses both in Nigeria and abroad, some of which include: Senior Staff Course, National Defence Course, Forensic Audit Course (London), International Public Sector Accounting (USA).
Col Ituen holds the following certificate. Higher National Diploma in Accountancy, PGD Management, Masters in International Affairs and Strategic Studies (MIASS) and MSc Strategic Studies. Col IE Ituen is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Member Institute of Cost and Management Accountants (ICMA) and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) among others.
Col Ituen held several administrative and command appointments. Some of them were Assistant Director Finance, Director Army Accounts Inspectorate, Chief of Staff, HQ Nigerian Army Finance Corps, Director of Finance, Nigerian Defence Academy and Commander 3 Division Finance and Accounts. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the proposed West African University of Science and Technology, Ita Uruan. Akwa Ibom State. The Senior Officer was promoted to the rank of Colonel on 5 December 2010 and retired on 9 February 2020 after 34 years of active service to the nation.
In recognition of his meritorious and unblemished service to the Nation, Col IE Ituen was awarded the following Medals and Decorations, Field Command Medal (FCM) for commanding a Brigade in operation, Distinguished Service Star (DSS), Meritorious Service Star (MSS), Forces Service Star (FSS), Pass Staff College (PSC), Fellow of Defence College (FDC).
Col Ituen is happily married to Mrs Sandra Ituen and the Union is blessed with 4 children. His hobbies include playing Tennis, traveling and listening to Gospel music.
