Prof. Bassey Ndon

Prof. Bassey Asuquo Ndon is a Professor of Agronomy. Born in Ita Uruan, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria in 1946, he obtained B.Sc. in Agriculture from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife (1973), M.Sc. (1977) and Ph.D. (1980) in Agronomy from the University of Wisconsin, USA. He served as Research Agronomist/Physiologist (1973-1984) at the Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research (NIFOR), Benin City, Nigeria.
Professor Ndon joined the University of Cross River State (now University of Uyo), Nigeria in 1984 and has taught several undergraduate and graduate courses since then. He has served the University of Uyo as Dean of Faculty of Agriculture and as Head, Department of Agronomy. He was a visiting Professor, College of Agriculture, Port Antonio, Jamaica (1990-1991). He is currently Director, School of Continuing Education, University of Uyo.
Professor Ndon also served as a member of Akwa Ibom State Local Government Service Commission (1994-1999). He has several articles to his credit in outstanding national and international journals. He is the author of The Raphia Palm (2003) and co-authored of Crop Production Techniques in the Tropics (2005).
