As the President of the Akwa Ibom State Integrated Private Schools Association (AKIPSA), he actively advocates for a Private Education Providers Trust Fund to support the development of public schools, complementing government efforts in improving educational infrastructure and quality. His leadership also drives policy reforms, including the restructuring of the Ministry of Education, the creation of a subsidiary ministry, and the establishment of the Office of the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Private Schools Affairs to ensure better fiscal management and sustainable educational development.
He is the Proprietor and CEO of Saintthomases Nursery, Primary, and Secondary Schools, an institution known for its inclusive approach to education, particularly in supporting vulnerable children. Under his leadership, the school has become a hub for technology integration and skills acquisition, empowering students with hands-on skills in ICT, electronics, and confectioneries.
Beyond education, Rev. Dr. Akpan has played a critical role in community relations and security management. As a Community Liaison/Security Officer at Halliburton Company in Rivers State, he facilitated youth employment, empowerment, and dispute resolution between the company and local communities. His role helped bridge gaps between corporate interests and local aspirations, ensuring mutual growth and harmony.
His expertise in security extends to his leadership role in ATIL Security, where he contributes to security strategy and management. His insights and leadership in this sector have strengthened organizational security frameworks and enhanced community safety.
